CONSULTANT SCIENTIST | Malaysia
Professor Dr Ting Ho
Dr. Ting Ho, Ph. D., Team Leader, National Food Security, Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences
Visiting Professor, HELP University, Kuala Lumpur, Putra Business School, UPM, Putrajaya, Malaysia.
Dr Ho is the founder of Ting Ho Aquaculture, a project targeted at showing the symbiosis relationship between plant life and animal life on a commercial scale. Through aquaponics, we revolutionize the way we look at life, especially to bring about healing to our ecosystem. The wastes from fish and a myriad of other aquatic lives are turned into foods for plants, while plant roots feed dissolved oxygen into the water and the oxygen-rich water breeds planktons for fish. There is an intimate relationship between plant and animal as exhibited in the nutrient exchange cycle. The aquaculture project is now successfully adopted by large number of farmers.
Dr Ho is also President of SATA foundation, an NGO in promoting clean safe food and the founder of two other companies in Hong Kong: Global Agro Innovation Limited to introduce Innovative Agro Technologies for food farming.
Recently, Dr Ho has created three new entities in Malaysia, Back to Nature Enterprise, Going Back to Nature Sdn Bhd, and Back to Nature Academy Sdn Bhd. Back to Nature Enterprise is focusing on the operations of the Experimental Field Station in Kuala Pilah, while Going Back to Nature is focusing on ongoing research collaborations with university researchers, including those in UPM, UTM, HELP U, CUHK and other commercial organizations in Malaysia which look for new opportunities to expand globally through collaborations.
Dr. Ho has spent many years on a study mission to understand holistically, the relationship between the ecosystem and human health. He has developed an extensive network with TCM and Ayurvedic practitioners in nutrition therapy, medicinal plants, herbal formulations, food therapy, organic cultivation, ethno-food cultures, nature-empowered lifestyles, nature healing power and immune boosting exercises.
Dr. Ting Ho believes that it is critically important for health reason for people to recognize the complexity and the working of our ecosystem, which interweaves various biological agents including microbial lives to form a harmonious whole so that they can co-evolve and regenerate. All elements found on our surroundings have their specific roles in ensuring our existence and well-being, whether we acknowledge it or not.
Dr. Ho believes that human health is the by-product of a functioning ecosystem. When our ecosystem is off balance, we cannot long subsist. It is impossible to separate the individual parts and try to find the panache that cures all. Only by understanding and respecting the workings of the natural ecosystem encompassing all the living things in our environment as well as living within us, can we manage our own health and wellbeing.
